I love winter.
I know. You’re not supposed to love winter. Summer days spent stretched on tropical sands are the ideal. Tropical drinks, sand, waves…. But not for me.
I’m weird that way, but I find a special beauty in winter. How it reduces everything to its barest of elements. How it brings a simplicity and abstraction to the landscape. How it introduces new, yet ephemeral forms to those willing to brave the cold and go looking. I find my photographs are attempts to capture this reductive feature of the cold. Besides, photography isn’t an indoor sport!
Of course, being a Ginger who burns at the drop of a hat might have something to do with my love of winter as well!
