Existence is the burning of energy.
Time is irreversible. No matter how intense the spark, no matter how brightly the flame burns it always cools. Energy dissipates, cools, comes to equilibrium. But it must. Life requires the decay of energy. To exist, all our reactions must run. But to run means that at some point the reactants are depleted. To live is to burn, so burn brightly. Only the dead are at equilibrium.
