A change in perspective
Most of my work is about changing perspective and finding a new way to see and photograph the art nude. In this set, the change was pretty simple. More after the jump.
The polished metal mirrors that I use in the Mirage series of art nudes have very directional properties to them. This comes both from the polishing techniques and from the tendency of the metal sheet to bend along the longest edge. In these, I flipped the mirror 90 degrees to a landscape orientation. This set up a different axis for the reflections and let the metal hang straighter than when used length wise. As a result when photographed, the reflection bends, multiplies and merges and Mara’s body becomes something wholly different. She becomes a diffuse, diaphanous spirit image that bends upon the wind.
